  • Web page for older releases link to the current image

On the news pages Nicolas links to the latest release. And when the latest release gets a new image then the download link of an older news report does not change ... it links to the download page for the latest release and not to the image 4.1.0.

ralfkrause I know, I found the image and it is downloading (since a long time). No, my point was, whether the "Download disk image" on the release page for v4.1.0 bringing you v4.5.1 is the right thing.

I think that Nicolas could remove the download links from the older news. Then nobody will jump to the current download if he is searching an older one.

Ratna No, my point was, whether the "Download disk image" on the release page for v4.1.0 bringing you v4.5.1 is the right thing.

In fact "Download disk image" points to the download page, which lists always the latest image.

    Possible solutions:

    1. Rename this link to "Download latest disk image" (my preferred choice)
    2. Remove the link (as suggested by @ralfkrause)

    What do you think?

Well, we are in semantics! 😉

For me, the web page of a release, say https://moodlebox.net/de/news/version-4.1.0/, can talk only of itself. And it must be complete. So a download link is a must - to the image of that particular release obviously. (Another) Link pointing to the latest image causes confusion.

On the web page https://moodlebox.net/de/news/version-4.1.0/ you can see three links to the Github https://github.com/moodlebox/moodlebox/releases/tag/v4.1.0 ... the only problem is that the link "Download disk image" does not show the correct page when the news page gets older.

If someone reads the old news and clicks on an old download link then he should get the old image file. Because there are two links to the Github release page and to the download of the image 4.1.0 nobody will miss the download link to the current image. I would delete the line "Download disk image". And you can change the last line to "Have a look at the release notes on Github for all infos and downloads about this release."

No, I would not miss a link to the current image. The old 4.1.0 news page should only offer the old 4.1.0 image.

I'll try to find a intelligent way to fix this. The main issue here is my limited workload.

      1. When an new image is released, a "News" page is created, that must link to the generic "Download" page.
      2. When the next new image is release, I'll have to change the former one (and not forget it), which is annoying.

I've yet to found a way not to increase the (already too many) steps when releasing a new image.
