Ralf - thanks for this, I'll give it a try after I download the new image. This method seems like it might be superior to other methods in the past.
One of the challenges Dan Mcguire and I have been working on, is how to do remote support for people in another country, possibly by a zoom session with Screen Sharings. I'd like to summarize the methods I'm aware, that i've used before and the quirks and get any input you might have.
Moodlebox - with ethernet port - connect to a router, or switch in the local environment. (easy if it exists).
Moodlebox - tethered USB to phone - this new method, seems ideal, if the phone supports it, has cell / internet access;
Moodlebox - wifi hotspot - (can be router, or phone hotspot) multiple methods to connect, but requires editing some files. I did prototype some watcher utilities and changes to moodlebox admin dashboard changes, to set the values in that file. (/etc/networkmanager/system-connections/wifista.nmconnection.)
RPI connect - remote access via ssh
A challenge I've had, is if I have my Moodlebox on my home network, I (since I'm a linux geek), I modify the hosts file on my pc or mac, to set the ip address of the Moodlebox from its eth0 or wlan0 connection. But most users would have problems making that change, and remembering to unset it. But, having that setting, allows easy access to my development Moodlebox. Connecting to the MoodleBox Wifi, when it has an internet connection, would allow pass through access to the Internet, which could allow a remote support session.
thus the simple remote support / zoom session would be -
PC/MAC -> wifi -> moodlebox -> internet access via one of multiple methods.
Hopefully, I haven't been too confusing. I'm sorry if I have.
i have this claude.ai artifact, as a line drawing of the multiple methods -
