Is it possible to increase the swap size to 512 MB?

I tried MoodleBox 4.7.0 on a Raspberry Pi 2 W (512 MB RAM). The hotspot starts, I can log in to the shell. The web site is almost unresponsive. htop shows 99.9% of the 100 MB swap full and the OS is just grinding (whereas MB 4.5.1 is responsive).

I think with a 512 MB swap the web will respond at least, since R Pi with 1 GB RAM respond. If you are interested I can check it.

It is possible, but a bad idea, as it won't make the performance better. The problem here is that one doesn't want to use any swap at all, since swapping will render the MoodleBox unusable anyway (the 100MB swap is here just in case, to prevent crashing if RAM is exhausted).

What you should try is to lower the RAM used by your device. Do you have other things (plugins?) installed? Is it a MoodleBox as out of the box?

"slowness" wasn't the point. Nobody expects a 512 MB RPi to be responsive as a Moodle server. The point was, the current MoodleBox, 4.7.0, won't start at all on a Pi 2 W or Pi 3 A+. I tested in a haste, can recheck. If it is intended, then those models need to be taken out of the list of supported models. My hope was, by raising the swap to 512 MB MoodleBox will at least start, albeit very slow.

There is a difference between being very slow and not starting at all!
