Is 64bit a condition to build a custom MoodleBox?

Nicolas I'm just curious. Does the code at https://github.com/moodlebox/moodlebox have a "bitness", I mean is 64 bis OS is the condition?

What are the chances of starting with the 32 bit Raspberry Pi OS, say in a Pi 400, then subject it to the Ansible treatment as documented on GitHub? Will the result boot on a RPi Zero W, theoretically?

Ratna To get a 32bit version of the MoodleBox you must start with a 32bit Raspberry Pi OS Lite. And then Ansible will do the configuration for the MoodleBox.

As @krause says, it is possible to build a 32bit custom MoodleBox out of the box, using a RPi OS Lite 32bit image as a basis, so yes…

…but I would not recommend to do it, as Moodle 4.2 requires a 64bit version of PHP, that needs a 64bit OS. So you would not be able to update your Moodle installation.

So if you would like to stick to Moodle 4.1, there's no issue with 32bit. However, I cannot see any advantage to do so, since 32bit only Raspberry Pi models aren't recommended at all to run a MoodleBox, and there's no performance gain for platforms that can run 64bit like RPi 400.

Nicolas Thanks for confirming that a 32 bit MoodleBox up to Moodle 4.1 (LTS) is theoretically possible.

Thanks for the hint that Moodle 4.2 will be 64 bit only. It is there in https://moodledev.io/general/releases/4.2. Didn't know that.
