First launch error

I'm using a Raspberry PI 4 4GB with MoodleBox 3.9.0

In the first launch , I see in the message displaying on screen the error message :
[FAILED] Failed to start dnsmasq - a Lightweight DHCP and caching DNS server
See 'systemctl status dnsmasq.service' for details

The last message prompt me to insert login and password
I type 'moodlebox' as login
I type 'moodlebox4$' as password

When I type 'locale' command I see that there are missing LANGUAGE and LC_ALL.

I saw here https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=215235 that the line 'bind-interfaces' should be removed from the config file in /etc/dnsmasq.conf.
When I remove this line , the dnsmasq error disappears ! But I don't know if I'm right with this change ?
I reboot by typing 'sudo reboot'

In the new boot , I saw My IP adress i 192.168.0.230
But in the end I have to insert login and password as previous launch and I come again in the command line !!!

cyke64 RPi is a versatile thing and the connection to MoodleBox could be confusing. So easy things first:

The main intended purpose is MoodleBox to be a wireless hotspot serving a Moodle site at the same time. So, please start here: https://moodlebox.net/en/help/wi-fi-connection/.

How to start the program moodlebox from the commandline ?

There is no need to start a program as in a desktop (client) - MoodleBox is a server, a web-server to start with. An Nginx instance (a server daemon) will be started when it boots. You just need to connect to it from your client, from a web-browser.

Why didn't MoodleBox start in a Graphic interface ?

As mentioned above, MoodleBox is supposed to be a server, so a desktop (client) is unnecessary.

In the new boot , I saw My IP adress i 192.168.0.230

That must be the IP address given to the (wired) Ethernet interface of the RPi by your home modem/router/DHCP server. MoodleBox assigns 10.0.0.1 to its wireless interface on its own.

No idea. Did you try 'systemctl status dnsmasq.service'?

This could be caused by a corrupted image (or SD card). I'd try to download a new MoodleBox image, flash it again on your SD card and start it up.

No. Don't mess with MoodleBox configuration.

Now I have better understood how this MoodleBox is working :-)

No , I don't believe that my new microSD card is bad. I have already used it without any problem.

systemctl status dnsmasq.service shows no errors (dnsmasq.service has been launched)

Before I have restore the original contents of the /etc/dnsmasq.conf file.
Things I tried 😀
ping to 10.0.0.1 responds well and also ping to 192.168.0.230
I have connected with my computer to the AP MoodleBox created by Raspberry Pi with MoodleBox and the password 'moodlebox'.
When I tried the URL 'http://moodlebox.home/' it doesn't works ! :-(

This site is inaccessible
Check if the moodlebox.home address is correct.
If there are no errors, try to run a Windows network diagnostic.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

But with my smartphone I have the connect screen and I can connect as admin in my smartphone.
But not with my computer.

Could you help me ?

cyke64 As Nicolas has already explained, the real reason is inside the client, the Windows box in this case.

I have noticed though that trying to visit http://10.0.0.1 sometimes kicks a process which ultimately makes the Windows box to recognize moodlebox.home.

If I can summarize:

Everything works well with your smartphone (that means MoodleBox works as expected 😀 )
You cannot access the MoodleBox with your Windows box, with DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error

The problem lies probably in the config of your Windows box. Try to fix it following this guide or this one, but do NOT use other DNS servers, since this will not work.
